With TikTok leaving the U.S next year due to the proposed sell-off bill, publishers and fans will need to find a new platform for music trends.
Instagram is positioning itself as that platform by adding features like “Add Yours Music” stickers, music in Notes, song lyrics in Reels, and songs on profiles.
The latest update in this matter is that It’s also testing a Spotify integration, letting users share what they’re listening to via IG Notes.
While not a game-changing feature, this integration could help Instagram become the go-to place for music discovery if TikTok exits the U.S.
With Snapchat less suited for public sharing, Instagram could emerge as the natural choice.
If TikTok doesn’t comply with the bill, it might be forced out of the U.S., which could make Instagram the new hub for music discovery, further increasing the relevance of its music features.
