Johannes Larsson Discussed Using Social Media For Growing Businesses

Today we are pleased to have Johannes Larsson, a serial entrepreneur from Sweden.

He is well versed in setting up and running affiliate marketing-focused businesses. He is also interested in creating and offering courses focused on affiliate marketing and related businesses.

In this interview, he discusses his journey, ideas about the importance of SEO in affiliate marketing and social media automation.

Let’s start the interview.

Muneeb: When did you start your entrepreneurial journey? What got you into online marketing?

Johannes: I wasn’t ever very interested in school or continuing my education in the hopes of earning a degree or full-time job. I knew it was the done thing, but it just didn’t appeal to me. Instead, I was always fascinated by all things digital, creating websites and making money from my computer. I knew I was an entrepreneur at heart and had to give it a go for myself.

I started off by creating websites and monetizing them through Google Adsense. It amazed me that I was making money through something I enjoyed so much in my childhood bedroom while my friends were doing homework. I then started to experiment with affiliate marketing, and somewhere along the way, Financer.com was born. My global financial education and comparison site.

Muneeb: What are the highlights of your career? Any particular achievement which you are most proud of?

Johannes: I’m proud to have grown Financer.com to 26 markets now and have such a global team of intrapreneurs working on my vision with me. I love that we are providing financial education and comparison to so many different nations and languages. That feels like a big achievement. However, like anything in life, you can always do more. I don’t plan to slow down any time soon and will continue growing this number and taking Financer.com to new countries around the globe.

Muneeb: What challenges did you face at the beginning of your career, and how did you overcome them?

Johannes: At the beginning of my journey, I was hyper-focused on making money through advertising. It seemed to be working well for me, so I put all of my time and energy into creating new websites and doubling my results. However, that backfired in a big way. Overnight my Google Adsense account was disabled despite me following all of Google’s rules. There was nothing I could do, and the income I had spent months building up disappeared. I learned the hard way that day not to be reliant on one company for money.

I came back stronger and always took that lesson with me, but at the time, it was highly frustrating.

Muneeb: Being a big affiliate marketer and SEO enthusiast. Do you think these two fields go together?

Johannes: SEO and affiliate marketing are two fields that very much go hand in hand. For me, one doesn’t really work without the other. Of course, you can do a lot in the field of SEO that doesn’t involve affiliate marketing. Still, if you really want to make good money, then affiliate marketing is a no-brainer for anybody talented in SEO. And affiliate marketing without SEO skills will not get you very far.

If you want to find success in one of these fields, I can recommend working on both.

Muneeb: What’s the one thing that you like most about affiliate marketing? And what opportunities can a newbie explore to get started?

Johannes: I love that affiliate marketing is so flexible and that whether your interests are fashion, travel, finance, or something completely different, you can be welcomed into the affiliate marketing industry and start making money. It’s really open to everybody, and the only barrier is how hard you’re willing to work.

Muneeb: How can affiliate marketers leverage social media for their business?

Johannes: There are many ways affiliate marketers can use social media, but one I’m particularly interested in is building a personal brand. Affiliate marketing relies on a lot of trusts. Between you, your readers/followers, and the companies and products you’re promoting. To build trust, you really need to let people see who you are, what your values are, and decide for themselves whether or not they agree with what you have to say. I find social media a great way to create that trust and build up a personal brand alongside your business.

Muneeb: How important is social media automation for any business? What would you like to say about Social Champ?

Johannes: Social media automation is crucial for any growing business. It’s important to save time where you can and for you and your team to be able to check each other’s work and that all of the scheduled content will represent the brand to the best of your ability.

Muneeb: Who do you take inspiration from in your personal and professional life?

Johannes: I take a lot of inspiration from serial entrepreneur Tai Lopez, both on a professional level but also as a person with his attitude towards growth, lifting others, and fitness.

Muneeb: Stepping aside from work, How do you spend your free time? Any particular hobby or activity?

Johannes: I love to spend my free time outside, especially surfing and growing fruit and vegetables in my garden. I love to be in nature and spending time with the people I love, so I make time for both every day.

Muneeb: Now it’s time for our Rapid-Fire round.
